Christ Episcopal Church

William and Mary Parish

Mission Statement

The mission of the parishioners of Christ Church, Wayside, is to
be the presence of Christ in the world and to affirm and
proclaim, by word and by deed, the Good News of the Gospel.
We seek to call all to join our fellowship and community of faith
and to share with one another the sacraments of the church and
to be a spiritual haven of refreshment and renewal.

Welcome

We welcome you to Christ Church, Wayside and hope that you will feel comfortable and fulfilled, and that you will be strengthened to meet the challenges of your daily life. We hope that these notes about our worship services will be helpful to you. We always welcome children during worship; however , parents may at times choose to walk with infants in the open area outside or in the Parish Hall. During the second service, we provide a Nursery for small children which is located in the Parish Hall. Sunday School for children is at 10:30 in the Ingle's House next to the Parish Hall (follow the signs). To parents of young children, may we suggest: Relax! God put the wiggle in children - don't feel you must suppress it here. Sing, pray and respond; your child will learn by copying you. If your child needs to leave, do so, but please come back. And to all our members, please smile and encourage young children and their parents - they are our future. "Nothing you ever do for a child is wasted." Garrison Keillor

Receiving Communion

The Holy Eucharist is Christ's eternal banquet, to which we are all invited. If you are a baptized Christian of any tradition we welcome you to receive communion with this community of God's people. At the time of communion, please come to the altar rail; you may stand or kneel. The bread will be placed in your outstretched hands. When the chalice of wine comes, you may drink from it directly, carefully dip the bread in it, or decline it.

After the Service

Following each service, we serve coffee and refreshments in the Parish Hall (the building behind the church). We invite you to participate with us. If you have any questions about baptisms, weddings, membership, or any other need we can respond to, please speak with Reverend Jensen after the service or call the Church Office (301-259-4327). If you wish to know more about our church or would like to be put on our mailing lIst, please sign the Guest Book at the back of the church or call the Church Office.
